Fiona Apple Listening Session
an artist with tact and emotional depth.
Hi Special Instructions Fam!
Here to inform you all of another listening session of Fiona Apple’s debut album Tidal.
Tidal was released on July 23, 1996. It arrived with an emotional depth and vulnerability that seemed beyond her years, yet perfectly captured the raw intensity of adolescence. Echoing the spirit of Maya Angelou and Billie Holiday, she crafted songs that still feel literary and urgent. The album blends jazz-inflected piano, smoky vocals, and confessional lyrics that explore desire, trauma, anger, and self-discovery. Its standout singles, such as Shadowboxer and the Grammy Award-winning Criminal revealed an artist unafraid of truthfulness and confrontation. Tidal established Fiona Apple as a singular songwriter whose honesty and intensity continue to resonate decades later.
I will have Poetry books available to browse through with select poets that either inspired Fiona’s work or have similar themes.
If you’re around the Greenpoint area the event will be held December 11th at Head Hi from 6:30-8:30pm. RSVP is required to attend.
There will be an after party celebrating one year of doing these listening sessions at Night Moves. not too far from Head Hi. from 9-2am Free entry. With myself on 1s and 2s and friends!
